The third annual Commonwealth Cup Regatta is scheduled for Saturday, September 27^th.  This year’s Regatta will cover a 50K course in order to take full advantage of the big water Kentucky Lake has to offer.  Registration for the race and a pre-race party for all participants and interested members of both organizing clubs will take place on the Friday night before the race.  The schedule of events is as follows:

The Regatta will offer racing to sailors in four classes, Jam A, Jam B, Spinnaker and a Cruiser class for those just starting in the race business.  The weather on the day of the race may dictate shortening the race for all participants.  In the event weather does not allow the race to take place on Saturday then Sunday is the alternate race day with an awards presentation immediately following.  Make your reservation for the CYC Restaurant early as we expect to reach maximum capacity.

Registration packets have been mailed to all previous racers and to others identified as potential participants.  All that remains is deciding what to feed everyone who attends.  If you would like to provide input regarding menu choices, contact club members Tom and Diane Howard or Dick and Kim Swartz.

This event is a great opportunity for each of you, as CYC members, to participate in a unique event and show our hospitable side to all who attend.  Speaking of hospitality, the Green Turtle Bay Resort has agreed to provide complimentary dockage to all race participants who are fully paid!  Space is available on a first come, first served basis and is subject to

the availability of slips on the date of the race.  In the last newsletter, I asked all those who plan the attend the Friday night party to call the CYC Restaurant and make reservations.  Since this is dinner buffet, we have decided that no reservations are necessary.  It would, however, be great to know how many to expect, so please call 270-362-4444 and let them know if you are planning to attend.
