Purpose of the Club

Welcome! The CYC Sunfish Sailing Program at Green Turtle Bay Resort is designed to promote sailing as a lifelong recreational sport among the people (particularly children ages 8 to 18) of the Lake Barkley/Kentucky Lake area.  As 2009 is our inaugural year, we need your input and participation in the program to make it happen?  Join the club today!
 
Sunfish Social Network Site – This site is being used initially to promote discussion of the various aspects of the club as the organization is developed and schedules are set for the 2009 season.  If you are a member, or interested in becoming a member, sign up as a user of this site and see what we have to offer.
 
Sunfish Club Mailing List – Sign up for the club mailing list and get all the news as it happens.  Anyone can join and post to the site any information about where to find boats, information about our Sunfish Regattas etc.

What’s Happening Now…

Ø       Purchasing Sunfish for use by club members of all types, especially those 8 to 18 year olds who want to learn to sail.

Ø       Developing “Operating Rules” and “By-Laws” to give some structure to the club.

Ø       Planning club Regattas to promote competition and increase the skill level of sailors in the club

Ø       Developing a sailing instruction program

Ø       Developing a schedule of events for 2009 .

Ø       Developing a mailing list for Sunfish Members.

Ø       Working with our webmaster to develop a web page

Ø       Exploring ways to use the Social Networking Site

Ø       Developing the dates and procedures to use when the Sunfish Club allows for the open use of club boats

Ø       Seeking volunteers to man the beach and check out equipment.
